Amazon Retailer Review

Overview

Amazon.co.uk is the UK’s favourite music and video retailer and 3rd largest online retailer in the UK. Originating from Seattle in the US, Amazon has grown massively since launching as an online book retailer in 1995 and now sells pretty much every product you can think of that can be delivered to your door!

Ease of use

In our test we found it a little more difficult to quickly get to the products we were looking for through the navigation due to its sheer size there are generally more sub-categories than usual and all the products we wanted could fit into more than one of those categories.

Having said that, once we knew which sub-category we were looking for we could easily find the products we wanted sometimes in less than two clicks. Amazon seemed to be very good at promoting and highlighting current trend products like the Xbox Kinect.

Overall Price

In our price comparison test Amazon came out on top of all our other retailers. Again, due to their sheer size they are able to buy in volume and pass that saving onto the customer. They also integrate third party sellers into their products. So often you are able to get some products that are used for a smaller price than they advertise as new.

Delivery

Amazon are super quick at delivery! Often even for the FREE super saver delivery it takes less than 2 days to arrive in easy access locations in the UK. They also offer a wide variety of other delivery options to get your order to you as fast as possible!

Stock

In our test we found Amazon came out on top of our in-stock ratio. Because they incorporate third party sellers too, if the product is out of stock at amazon they can often point you to another seller that does have it in stock. Meaning that you always get the product when you want it.

Security

Amazon is at the forefront of online retailer security. They have had many years of getting this right and ensure that all transactions are done over a secure url that will 100% keep all your sensitive details private.
